Using the app

What is happs?
happs is a free local events app for the Greater Toronto Area. We aggregate thousands of public events (museums, theatres, libraries, parks, festivals) and let verified local businesses post directly to their neighbourhood feed. Built for Vaughan, made for everyone.
Why don't I see anything in my feed?
Tap the area chip at the top of the Discover screen and pick a neighbourhood or city. The app defaults to Toronto on first launch since that's where most of our content is. If you're in Vaughan, switching to "Vaughan" or your specific neighbourhood will narrow the feed.
How do I follow a business?
Tap any business name in a post to open their profile, then tap the follow button. You'll get a push notification any time they post something new (subject to your notification settings).
How do I save an event?
Tap the bookmark icon on any event card. Saved events show up in your profile and you can add them to your phone's calendar with one tap.
How do I post my own event?
Personal accounts can post in community categories (Neighbours, Festivals, Sports, Learn & Make). Tap the + button on the Discover screen. Posting in commercial categories (Local Deals, Live & On Stage, etc.) requires a verified business account — sign up at happs.ca/business-dashboard.
Can I change my notification preferences?
Yes. Open the app → Profile → Notifications. You can turn off pushes per category, per business you follow, or disable them entirely.

Account

How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in screen, tap "Forgot password?" and enter your email. We'll send you a reset link. The reset page is at happs.ca/reset-password.
How do I change my email address?
Email info@happs.ca from your current account email and let us know the new one. We'll update it manually within 1 business day.
How do I delete my account?
Email info@happs.ca with the subject "Delete my happs account" from the email address you signed up with. We'll permanently delete your profile, posts, follows, and all associated data within 7 days and confirm by email. We do not retain any personal data after deletion.

For businesses

How do I sign up as a business?
Go to happs.ca/business-dashboard, sign in, and switch your account type to Business. You'll be able to claim your business name, add locations, and start posting on the Free tier immediately. Verification (✓ badge) takes 1–2 business days after you submit your business details.
How do I upgrade or change my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed at happs.ca/business-dashboard → Billing. Upgrades take effect immediately. Email info@happs.ca for cancellations, refunds, or billing questions.
My business already shows up in the app, but I didn't sign up. Why?
happs aggregates publicly available event information from sources like museums, theatres, libraries, parks, and community boards. If your business's events appear publicly online, they may be picked up by our aggregator. To claim your business and control your posts, sign up at happs.ca/business-dashboard and email us to verify ownership. If you want events removed, email info@happs.ca and we'll handle it within 1 business day.
I'm a major institution or chain. Who do I talk to?
Email info@happs.ca with the subject "Enterprise inquiry." We've custom-priced happs for places like AGO, ROM, Yorkdale, TIFF, Pride Toronto, MLSE, and Cadillac Fairview.

Report a bug or suggest a feature

Safety, abuse, and content concerns

To report a post, business, or user that violates our community guidelines, email info@happs.ca with the subject "Content Report." Include a screenshot or a link to the post if possible. We review every report and take action within 1 business day. Posts found to be spam, hateful, harassing, or illegal are removed and the posting account is suspended.
